Strategic Approaches to Regional Air Quality Management in China

      The Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) of the People’s Republic of China, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of the United States of America, and the Italian Ministry for the Environment and Territory (IMET) invite your participation in an important environmental conference, 4rd Strategic Approaches to Regional Air Quality Management in China: Strategies for Control of Particulate Matter, Regional Haze, SO2/NOx, to be held at the Ritz-Carlton, Financial District Hotel in Beijing November 6-7, 2008.

      The Conference aims to raise awareness of the importance of regional air pollution as it impacts urban air quality management in China.  The main purpose of the Conference will be to prepare decision-makers at the local, provincial, and national levels to effectively manage and reduce air pollution across multiple cities and provinces.  Topics to be addressed during the Conference include: lessons learned from Beijing Olympics; regional air quality modeling and assessment tools for policy makers; cost-benefit analysis of various control strategies; coordination of air quality management strategies such as emissions trading across cities and provinces; and single- and multi-pollutant approaches to reducing emissions from the power sector.
